Triumphal arch

ALCANTARA (Spain): Triumphal arch.

One of the finest examples of Roman bridge building, the Puente Romano across the Río Tajo was built in AD 106 and dedicated to the Emperor Trajan, who is honored by a triumphal arch in the center of the bridge and a small temple at one end.
